This autumn, NEP plans to arrange a week of in-person meetings, offering members a chance to interact with EU policymakers and other key stakeholders in Brussels. To prepare for this event, NEP is seeking to form a coordination group comprised of members who can assist in creating the week's itinerary and support outreach efforts to stakeholders.
NEP sees this as an opportunity to push for some of NEP's priorities for the second half of 2024:
EU competitiveness & CDR: Promote policies that enhance the EU's global competitiveness. This is particularly pertinent at a time when President-elect von der Leyen named EU competitiveness as one of her top priorities for the coming five years.
Policies falling under this objective: Clean Industrial Plan, revision of the EU climate law
EU financing for removals: Highlight the significant financing gap in the CDR in the EU, which will hinder the development and deployment of CDR. Advocate for clear policies and public and private financing tools that will help support the CDR sector.
Policies falling under this objective: Green Claims, CDR compliance market
